Yeah I never saw it before or found where I could buy it :( Like the usual for me, it's hard to get good imports on certian foriegn movies becasue I live in the U.S. lol

I just now tracked the thing down as part of a boxed set with the other "Films to Keep You Awake". It's in region 2/PAL format though and since the cult cinema store where I found this also deals in some potentially offensive DVDs (i.e. foreign porn) I'll just ask that anyone interested in the link to their page for Peliculas para No Dormir drop me an e-mail and I'll send it to them.

yeah too bad you had to find this good stuff though all that garbage like porn and such :(

That's the issue with good foriegn films when they are outisde of thier native territory . . . they get tossed around everyhwhere . . .

So what exactly is Cuento de navidad about??

dsprag - May 2, 2008 07:24 AM (GMT)
Below is the description from the aforementioned website:

CUENTO DE NAVIDAD (THE CHRISTMAS TALE) Dir. Paco Plaza

A group of children spending Christmas in a summer resort village discover a woman disguised as Santa Claus in a well in the woods. When they go to the police for help, they discover that she is in fact a dangerous thief who is on the run with a substantial haul. They make a decision. They will help her out of the well in exchange for the money that she still has on her.

But once they have the money, greed, fear and darker thoughts lead them to change their plans, which in turn leads to a series of dilemmas. Should they keep the money? Why would they actually want to help her out of the well? And would they be in danger if they did let her out?

So the children decide not to free her. They feed her and look after her… but the days become increasingly long in the well. The cold, the damp, the darkness and above all the fact that she is being fed with packets of children’s food are turning her enforced captivity into a torture session with near fatal consequences.

One day, when the children come to see her, the well is empty... This year, Santa Claus is coming with a sackful of deadly gifts…

Come to think of it, this may count as an actively dark role for Ivana.

it looks like quite a good edition :)

there are a few spanish editions on amazon but they don't seem to indicate whether they are 1 or 2 discs
