So I'm curious, why do you think this movies is breaking box office records and such?? I mean don't get me wrong it's a great movie and i knew it would be fantastic but this is amazing, it's like people who don't even care for Superhero movies like it an such. Is it because the mood and tone of the movie is dark? Is it because the story is good? Or does everyone and their brother just like batman a lot lol. I'd like to hear what you all think or know . . . . .thanks

Very wierd, I guess some movies, like this one get so much hype. Its an amazing movie from what I hear, I bet that + Hype is giving much succsess.

I think it's purely to do with Heath Ledger! He acts a superb role, and everyone's talking about him, and because he's recently died, people think that they are paying the dead a favour by watching the film...

that's my idea anyway. I think without the ~Joker this film will be like any other superhero movie!

to be honest I didn't even know who Heath was until i looked him up online and realized he was in this movie called "10 things i hate about you" and "First knight" which I saw awhile ago.

I think the whole hype of the movie got people to go. It was a great movie so to tell you the truth, I am not really surprised with the amount of money made with the movie.

The reason it's so big is because of it's timing. You can point and say performances were what did the trick, but that's only a small part of it. America is not sitting in a very comfortable spot right now. We're all very anxious about our election and our economy. This is a very stressful time in the states. Things that weren't problems just a year ago are now becoming top priorities and it seems like there's too much on our plate. No one knows where to start and no one person has all the answers...

And then boom...a way to escape from it all. A movie that comes along to give us a two hour break from the world, and one that we know justice and good will prevail in.

That, my friends, is what The Dark Knight is so big.

part is because of Heath Ledger and also because it a Batman movie. There are just some movies out there that will sell big time it up there on the list along with Star Wars and Spider-Man.
